In 1977, I went and saw Star Wars 19 times before it left our theater in Morganton, NC. Over the 42 years since it came out, I have watched it so many more times, I can't even count.

The Empire Strikes Back went the same. By the time the third installment arrived, I felt like I was a Jedi.

Then we had the disappointment of the middle three chapters. My attention wavered.

Now we are supposedly in the endgame of Star Wars.

Unfortunately, I wasn't enamored with the first two chapters of the third trilogy. Don't get me wrong. I love the new actors, I cried over Han and Luke, but let's get real. Both were way too long and it felt like nothing new was being added to the lexicon.

Now the Final Chapter is due at Christmas. God only knows how long it will be.

So now here is the final trailer. I still don't know what to expect, but.... I will be there and I will cheer, cry, gasp, whatever to the end of a story that has taken my entire adult life. Even with all its faults, it's awesome.

Disney dropped a new two-minute trailer during Disney’s D23 Expo that leaves me guessing about so much. When we last left our heroes, they had survived what should have been a final battle, the new Emporer was dead, but they were back to being a ragtag group with no fleet.

There's a lot to tie up. It's been the story of my life. I can't wait to reach the finish line.

Want to know what others are saying as they break down the trailer? Check EW's take on the individual scenes........

Chewie has to be included in the big three of the cast. Star Wars 1977, NOT episode IV.
