PhotoPlus Expo 2018 brings the photography world to NYC

What is the best way for photographers to promote their work? Face-to-face meetings. This is one of the advantages of attending PhotoPlus Expo from Oct. 25 – Oct. 27, 2018, at the Javits Convention Center in New York City.

Over the past 9 years, the Emerging & Pro Portfolio Review Program, allows attendees to present their work in one-on-one, 20-minute sessions with a guarantee to meet with a full 60% or more of the people they choose. Today it's harder than it has ever been to meet the people you need to know in this industry.

DEADLINE: OCTOBER 11 (or when registration is full) for the Palm Springs Photo Festival Portfolio Reviews

PDN PhotoPlus International Conference + Expo was founded in 1983, and is the largest photography and imaging event in North America. The show features over 100 educational seminars, Photo Walks and Master Classes, special Filmmaking and Drone sessions, the Palm Springs Photo Festival Portfolio Reviews, the Lucie Technical Awards, and over 200 exhibitors and brands displaying thousands of the latest equipment, products, and services for you to touch, try, and compare.

Nearly 20,000 professional, amateur, and emerging photographers, enthusiasts, videographers, students and educators from around the world attend the conference and expo. This is an unparalleled opportunity to network with the best and brightest minds in the industry and catch up on the latest equipment, technology, and trends.

The Lucie Technical Awards aim to honor the large and small companies, as well as the individuals, who have advanced the photographic industry in a given year. All inclusive, these awards intend to encompass such things as cameras, lenses, lighting, and accessories, to papers, printers, software and more. The Lucie Technical Awards is the newest initiative of the Lucie Foundation, and sister program of The Lucie Awards.

“I think The Lucie Technical Awards is great. Of course photography is a lot about the art, but the tools don’t get a lot of recognition, and it’s nice to see people paying attention to the tools that make the art possible. That to me is so important, because without the lens, there is no picture,” says Gregg Maniaci, President and CEO of Tamron USA.

The the Adobe Show Floor Theater presents free 20-minute educational seminars all three days of the show from industry leaders in photography and filmmaking. The Adobe Show Floor Theater, located at the rear of the PhotoPlus Expo hall, is designed for attendees to get more tips and tricks to take their craft to the next level.

The 2018 PhotoPlus conference will feature over 90 seminars, including Photo Walks, Master Classes, and Keynotes. The annual seminar series offers expert teachers from all over the world, such as Lindsay Adler, Kwaku Alston, Leslie dela Vega, Gabriella Demczuk, Anna Dickson, Peter Hurley, Julieanne Kost, Sarah Leen, Jay Maisel, Brad Ogbonna, Gus Powell, Joe Pugliese, Douglas Spotted Eagle, Art Streiber, and Roberto Valenzuela.

Workshops are focused, interactive two-hour sessions in the classroom, limited to 50 participants to provide a more in-depth learning experience. These workshops will provide an opportunity to come away with new knowledge that you can immediately incorporate into your practice. Master Class two-hour sessions with esteemed photographers and creatives, including art buyers and photo editors, are designed to facilitate open discussion in an intimate, comfortable setting. Attendees can connect with industry icons and creative leaders with hiring power, providing a richer, fuller experience. Photo Walks are led by some of the industry’s biggest photographers, giving attendees the opportunity to try new products and gear. Use the New York City streets as your backdrop to learn lighting and technical techniques, as well as composition and design.

Don’t miss a special keynote address by the illustrious artist Duane Michals on Saturday, October 27, 2018, from 12:45 PM - 1:45 PM, who made an indelible impact on visual storytelling, and will discuss his career as a photographer, writer and filmmaker. Bridging the gap between photography and philosophy, Michals’ work grapples with questions of metaphysics, personal identity and the nature of memory.

PhotoPlus has always been in support of introducing youth to photography. Both students and educators will receive 50% discount off the registration rates. VIP attendee packages are also available.
