Spring is finally here! Spend your spring break week at BCM for our festival celebrating all things green and sustainable. Make an Eco Art project, meet and touch sea creatures threatened by warming seas, or plant seeds in an old boot to add to our shoe garden! We’re jam packed with programs and community partners.

    Green is more than a color, it’s a lifestyle! Become stewards of the planet by learning how we honor the Earth in our communities.  Discover the second life of recycled materials in hands-on crafts, while exploring the delicate balance of our ecosystem in Brooklyn and around the world!

  • Save Our Seas: Touch Tank

    What is that?? A fish that doesn’t swim? A spiky ball that sticks to the wall? Touch some sea creatures, and see for yourself why our oceans are so awesome and important!

  • Creation Stories

    12:30, for 4 and up

    Come listen to stories from the Amazon to Zambia about the creation of the world and join in creating your own legend.

  • Imagination Junction

    Need to take a bit of a break? Spend some time coloring, drawing, solving puzzles, and more! Join us in challenging your brain and art skills!

  • Shoe Gardening

    Plants growing in a shoe? Join us outside in the garden for a silly planting extravaganza!

  • Sensory Room Family Hours

    Over, under, swing, and rock as you explore our newest space at BCM. Unlock doors on our Sensory Snake or relax and read on our fluff chair mountain This is an inclusive space that engages children of all abilities. This room provides a welcoming environment for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).Space is limited; availability on first come, first served basis.

METLIFE EARLY LEARNER PERFORMANCE: PROFESSOR WINKLEBOTTOM'S EARTH SCIENCE CIRCUS
Saturday, April 19th; 4:00-4:40pm | All ages

Learn how to keep our planet healthy as The Grand Falloons bring the story of Professor Winkelbottom to life through, magic, juggling, plate spinning, classic vaudeville routines, and original music. Made possible, in part, with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, celebrating 50 years of building strong, creative communities in New York State's 62 counties.

ART INSPIRES ART: HOW DOES A BIRD IMAGINE? WHAT DOES A TREE KNOW?

Visit the Everett Children’s Library at Brooklyn Children’s Museum to experience poetry, sculptures, and festive banners developed by artists from The Touchstone Center for Children. Featuring two interactive sculptures, “A Tree Lives” and “The Bird of Imagining,” this exhibit helps children to explore poetry and art, and learn how one art form can inspire another.

SPECIAL EXHIBIT: BUILDING BRAINSTORM

Step inside Building Brainstorm and you'll find a kid-friendly studio environment where Kids can discover the basics of buildings, while exploring the process of creating structures that match the needs of the people inside them. The exhibition was created by Brooklyn Children's Museum in association with The Center for Architecture Foundation.

APRIL’S SUPER SENSES!

In shining a special light on Autism Awareness Month, the Museum celebrates our senses and provides sensory-friendly programming for the entire month of April. Use your Super Senses and participate in programs such as Your Nose Knows, Smelly Art, Touch Tour and our Family Access Program: Minerals vs. Mush.

BROOKLYN BLOCK LABORATORY, CHASE VISITING EXHIBITS GALLERY
Saturday, April 5th - Sunday, August 31st, 2014

Brooklyn Block Laboratory is a new 1,000 sq. ft. pop-up activity area that provides engaging hands-on learning experiences through block play. Children and families design and experiment with different building blocks, creating imaginative structures, stacking, sorting, and talking. Utilizing a curated selection of wood, foam, and magnetic blocks, families and teachers examine how children interact and speak during the building process.
