Theatre on the Barge: Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead

Waterfront Museum | Red Hook

Cave Theatre Co. brings Tom Stoppard’s Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead for a unique run of performances onboard the Waterfront Museum, a beautiful historic barge and museum in Red Hook, Brooklyn.

“Meet Rosencrantz & Guildenstern. They’re…well, who are they? Honestly, sometimes even they’re not so sure. Join Shakespeare’s most loveable (minor) characters as they muddle their way through one existential crisis after another. In this brilliant philosophical comedy, set against the backdrop of the most famously morose play of all time, playwright Tom Stoppard muses on life, death, and the statistical probability of coin tosses, flipping seamlessly between hilarity and poignancy.”

Performances are:

Friday, October 12th @ 8PM
Saturday, October 13th @ 8PM

Friday, October 19th @ 8PM
Saturday, October 20th @ 8PM

Friday, October 26th @ 8PM

The Waterfront Museum, founded in 1985, is located in Red Hook, Brooklyn. It is housed aboard the 1914 Lehigh Valley Barge #79, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Its mission is to:

  • provide free and low-cost opportunities for education, exhibition, and the performance arts;
  • promote historic preservation and our maritime heritage and an understanding of the importance of our water highway for commerce, carrying commuters, culture, and recreation;
  • provide public access to waterfront piers, their unparalleled vistas and recreational opportunities;
  • be an active voice for public waterfront access issues up and down the river.

Come aboard! The Museum offers free Open Boat Tours every Thursday 4-8pm and Saturday 1-5pm. In addition, we are open year-round for school and group tours by appointment and feature many performances, art exhibits, and other special events throughout the year.

Waterfront Museum's Red Hook homeport, across the street from the Fairway Market, is also home to a wonderful pier, garden and unbeatable views of the sunset over Lady Liberty.

The best players in college baseball hone their skills during the summer months in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL).

Vandy Boys. The name is synonymous with college baseball players.

It is baseball in its purest form with athletes who are playing for the love of the game, with the slim possibility of advancing to a Major League Baseball career.
