Hi Ruthie old Friend:
I just opened the SBN and found your postings. Let me confirm something with you. You are correct when you state that
some states don't recognize the Catholic
religion as "Christians". I found this to be the case in most of the Southern states, such as Alabama, Mississippi,
I visited these states and the prejudice was not to be believed, but that was back in the early 70's.
Ruth, you have no idea of the attitute the Muslim's had after "911", they were celebrating on rooftops in NJ and in NY (particularly Bay Ridge) I believe that these terrorists suffer a mental and criminal disorder and these types are inducted into the fanatical
realm of Jihad. The Iman assigned to
Penal institutions in the U.S. indoctrinate the inmates to radical
Islam. It is an insult to place a mosque on the site where so many working Americans were murdered and the Police and Fireman who went into the flames to try to save them and then the cleanup crews who are now suffering from illness due to the fallout. (What organizations or countries are funding this mosque -this is questionable) Why this particular site?
It is not prejudice, as we always believed to live and let live but they do not have that belief.
Let me hear from you.
Love,
Loretta
Ruth 8-23-2010 04:42 PM
Loretta, My first sentence on this site concerning the Mosque stated that I would like to see it built somewhere else, but I do not think that we should force them to do it. But these prejudices we both mentioned about other Christians not considering Catholics to be Christians, is still here. Just 2 years ago, I was told by someone who lives in the State of Washington that they do not consider Catholics to be Christians. They also make snide remarks about us saying the "Hail Mary". According to them, that means that we are bowing down to other Gods. I have also heard these remarks myself here in Florida, where people come from all parts of the country. I just think that we need to be careful, remember many people would like this country to become a "Christian Country". But if we are not considered Christians because we are Catholic, then what are we?, according to them, and how will we be treated?
|
Ruth 8-23-2010 05:01 PM
Loretta, I most certainly do know how terrible this atrocity affected the people living in NYC and NJ. It also affected all of us. My son-in-law and many other family members are or were policemen and firemen in NYC, my niece lives near the twin towers and saw the first plane hit. Believe me, this traumatized her more than you can imagine. My three sons and their friends were there helping during the next three days, until they were told the professionals were there, and to go home. It wasn't something they wanted to talk about. The NYFD Chaplain officiated at the wedding of my cousin and was at the reception with a lot of the firemen who died, so I really understand how terribly this affected many, many people.

Janet 8-25-2010 10:32 AM
I really don't care what anyone considers Catholics. We are Christians, we believe in Jesus Christ. We believe in the miracles that Jesus performed when he was on earth. We believe that he is the son of God. We believe that He died for our sins. We believe in the resurrection of Jesus. So who ever does not believe that we are Christians who cares. We as Christians are suppose to live a Christian Way of life. Yes Christianity is that you believe in Jesus Christ, however Christianity is a Way of life. But no one is perfect, no one lives that way everyday. We all have our faults all the Christians. Whether it be Lutheran, Baptists, Anglicans, Pentecostalism and a few others. Let me put it to you this way. Religion and I mean any religion that believe in Jesus Christ have their own little beliefs and differences because religion is the way man looks at God. Therefore no organized religion can past judgement on another organized religion. Christianity is believing in Jesus Christ and it is a way of life. So none of these other organized religions can say that Catholics are not Christian.

I went to the top because the thread is getting large, which is a good sign. Bill, with all due respect THE ISSUE and only issue is can a group of people, no matter what religion, be denied under this Constitution, the right to build a house of worship, no matter what religion, in the United States. You veer into issues of funding and past statements which are troubling, but the fact remains freedom of religion trumps all. My Japanese interment is spot on, a hysterical fear is descending on America concerning Islam and I am sure many, many Americans are wishing that Muslims and Islam leave our shores. That sir is their victory, with or without the mosque they have won because they have divided us on one of the main principles of our country.
Ruth 8-21-2010 10:31 AM
If you take away this right from one religion you take it away from every religion. That was the point I was trying to make. Janet, just as you chose to stay in Brooklyn, I chose to move to Florida, and I thank God that we live in a country where we have so many choices, and the freedom to make these choices. As JM mentioned, UNITED we stand, divided we fall, let's not let our enemies divide us by getting us to hate one another. All of us, regardless of race, nationality, religion or color are equal and should be treated as such.
|
bill 8-21-2010 10:55 AM
JM (what's your real name?) I think you and I are closer in opinion than might be believed.
I have and continue to support our constitution, framing this particular project as a Freedom of Religion matter doesn't prove valid to me. Once again I point out the many other Mosques both in Manhattan and across the country.
Rather than repeat my earlier comments, I will illuminate the fact that more than 60% of Americans are against building this Mosque in proximity to the 911 footprint. Whether implicit or explicit, the wounds are still open for countless Americans touched by the terrorist attacks, and this Mosque is not helping to heal them. We would never stand for the Japanese building a Shinto shrine adjacent to the USS Arizona still visible beneath the shallow water at Pearl Harbor. Do you think the Japanese would appreciate the United States building an embassy at Nagasaki or Hiroshima ground zero sites? We can clearly see the insensitivity involved with such intentions.
Post 911, we are at war with Al Qaeda and radical Islam. When you have a prominent individual speaking for a large segment of the Muslim community who spews anti-American rhetoric both verbally and in the written word, red flags should be appearing. Additionally, he is going on a fund raising tour to the Middle East and has said he will not refuse money from groups that are anti-American – scary stuff.
Governor Paterson offered an Olive branch to diffuse the situation, but the IMAM would not even have a face-to-face discussion. To claim that he is a bridge builder when he contradicts those assertions by his words and actions should raise concerns.
JM, while your analogy to the Japanese internments (hysteria) may be accurate, those Japanese individuals were not on the record spewing anti-American language; this IMAM has and continues to do so.

James Madison 8-21-2010 03:26 PM
Yes Bill we are close in our views so I will make one more point and not repeat myself. Prior to this Mosque idea I had never heard (or if so very rarely) the words "sacred ground" or "hollowed ground" used in referring to "Ground Zero". I work down in that area and pass the area coming and going to work. Morning and evenings I have seen people hawking newspapers, food carts, guys selling photos of the planes crashing into the buildings, the Black Israelites preaching their hatred, tour guides etc etc etc. ALL FOR THE ALMIGHTY DOLLAR. Not once had anyone, family members of the victims, politicians from either party, talking heads, newspapers, NADA, speak against this desecration of "Ground Zero". Try to build a Mosque, bingo, "sacred ground", disrespect for the dead and their families come into play. In the Daily News on Friday, when talking to construction workers who would refuse to work in building this Mosque, one guy states he would not take the job. In the next sentence the paper refers to his website that, get this now, SELLS 911 MEMORABILIA. Now that is disrespect, unwise and an insult to the victims and families of 911. My two cents plus a few more has been added, nothing more I can say at this time except that hypocrisy still rules the debate

The Mosque
My way of thinking is, they would not want to upset & look so uncaring
If they would show respect and
decency, they would not put the mosque near ground zero. Or are they marking their territory like dogs?

Lets get right to the point. There would be no site that would satisfy those who deny a religion the right to built a place of worship in NYC, NYS, USA if the religion was Islam. Those of the Jewish faith be ready, you will be next and so on and so on. I have read many accounts on this site stating the country is headed towards s o c i a l i s m, denying religious freedom is taking this country towards c o m m u n i s m.
|
Bill 8-19-2010 09:35 PM
Eileen,
Of course you are correct.
James you best mind your Ps & Qs sir! There are at least 100 Mosques already in Manhattan, so there is no denial of religious freedom. There are inter-faith community centers, the FAITH HOUSE Manhattan to name one.
Being a history scholar ( or perhaps someone history scholars study), you should realize that those who fail to study history are doomed to repeat it!
|
James Madison 8-20-2010 07:16 AM
"America knows that we are at war with radical Islam, but we have no way of knowing which Muslims are radical and which are not." This is a direct quote from your entry Bill. As a student of history, I too acknowledge that we are doomed to repeat history if we have not studied history. Your statement brings to mind our reaction after Pearl Harbor, what did we do as a nation facing enimies unknown? Remember? WE ARRESTED AND LOCKED UP AMERICAN CITIZENS , REPEAT AMERICAN CITIZENS WHO HAPPENED TO BE JAPANESE. There, as in the present hysteria climate,we did not know who were 'friends" or who were "the enemy" so we locked up everyone. Your entry does the same, it condemns all Muslims as "the enemy", in essence advocating that we intern all Muslims in this country regardless of who they are or what they HAVE NOT done to this counry. If you are the same Bill who can not wait till November, you had better enjoy the moment, because it could be the last November you can vote in, if we follow this path you seem to advocate, religious feedom for all, except Islam.
|
Ruth 8-20-2010 08:33 AM
First I would like to say that I would like it if the Mosque were built somewhere else, but I do not believe that we should force them to do so. Saying that I think we should be very careful, because it seems that a large proportion of people on this site are Catholic, and there are many Christians in this country who do not consider Catholics to be Christians. How would you like it if they decided they did not want a Catholic Church to be built in their towns?
|
Bob 8-20-2010 09:00 AM
We have a standing order in our company that no Catholic worker can be buried in this county or any adjacent county to us, and to my knowledge this rule has never been violated.
|
Ruth 8-20-2010 03:23 PM
Janet, I live in a retirement community in Florida, and of course there are people here from all parts of the country. I have heard them making remarks about the Catholics going to confession and thinking that we would be going to heaven now that we have confessed our sins and said a couple of Hail Marys, which I guess they consider blasphemous because we should only be praying to God. The people who said they did not consider Catholics to be Christians were in the northwest part of the country, but again they had originally come from many parts of this country. I also remember when Bush was running for his second term that there were shows on TV showing people from the Bible belt part of the country and they had nothing but hatred towards any religion that was different than theirs, saying that every one else was going to hell because they practiced a different religion. They were not Islamic. So I just want to tell people to be careful about this situation regarding the Mosque, I do not want someone telling me what religion I have to practice . We have many freedoms and I would like to keep it that way.
|
Bill 8-20-2010 04:12 PM
JM, we started off in agreement, but parted ways when you referred to the treatment of the Japanese Americans who were interred during WWII. My entry makes no such assertion about condemning all Muslims or interring them or expulsion. My entire quote is “America knows that we are at war with radical Islam, but we have no way of knowing which Muslims are radical and which are not. Therefore, we as Americans are entitled to know who is funding this $100 million dollar project as well as other similar projects.” Your comparison between the Mosque and treatment of the Japanese is like comparing apples and oranges.
The IMAM involved with building the Mosque within the shadows of the 911 graveyard has made radical statements about America. Just 19 days after the attacks he was on 60 minutes advocating that America was an accessory to the attacks and that Osama Bin Laden was a product of our country. Moreover, this radical IMAM wants America to Sharia compliant and refuses to recognize Hamas as a terrorist organization. Since we are at war with radical Islam and this individual’s comments and posture align him with the terrorists is more than sufficient reason to investigate the legitimacy of the funding and intention of this facility.
You and I diverge on the point about religious freedom. As I have already stated, this in not an impediment to religious freedom, but a lack of empathy and awareness about the pain, suffering, and sacrifice of those who perished during the 911 attacks; the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania. There are countless Mosques across the country and at least 100 in Manhattan alone, so your assertion that this is a religious freedom issue rings hollow.
I find it hard to believe that the name of the facility will be the Cordoba Mosque, referring to the mosque built by the Umayyads on the site of a Christian Visigothic Church after the Muslims claimed victory in Spain back around 700 AD. Furthermore, do you think it is coincidental that the Mosque will be celebrating its grand opening on the same day as the 10th anniversary of the 911 attacks?
November 2, 2010 is just 74 days away. I look forward to a huge voter turnout; we can discuss the results subsequent to Election Day.
|
Ruth 8-20-2010 05:13 PM
Bill, you may be right about the information you have posted here, but the fact is that most people never heard any of these things and are only against the building of this Mosque because it represents the Islamic religion. I am just concerned about all the hatred that is being spread around the country, and this is just another way of spreading hatred.
|
Bill 8-20-2010 05:44 PM
Ruth,
This is not the first time, nor will it be the last that SBN visitors have disagreed with my opinion, which is fine and understandable. I don’t know what to say about your perspective. I served a career in the military defending our nation and our constitution. Being in tune with current events and making an informed decision is not spreading hate. Simply ignoring a situation will not make it go away.
While this debate is being presented as a religious freedom issue, that argument falls short based on the many Mosques around the country. Why can’t Muslim Americans involved with this project understand the pain and anguish expressed by those intimately impacted as well as our nation at large? If the intent is to build bridges and project a compassionate image of the Muslim faith, doesn’t such a defiant stance undercut that stated objective?
In my opinion, this particular IMAM and this particular Mosque will serve as a monument to racial Muslim terrorists groups who attacked our country on 911. Additionally, I think the Mosque will serve as a beacon for radical elements of the Islamic faith especially because of the intended location.
After all of the controversial things that have been said by this IMAM (we are still at war), shouldn’t we investigate who is funding this undertaking. Burying our head in the sand or looking the other way is not the answer. Confronting potential danger to this country is not spreading hatred, but rather exercising common sense.
|
Ruth 8-20-2010 11:11 PM
Bill, I did not say nor mean to imply that you are spreading hatred, but if this information is correct, then it would be good for the people to know this. Also, if these people are our enemies and not friends, wouldn't it be good to be able to see and identify them as such, and to watch them.
|
Janet 8-20-2010 11:17 PM
Bill, I know about the things of which you speak. I respect your informed and intelligent way that you state the facts. This is not a spread of hatred it's just plain facts. Again I say no one is telling them not to build their Mosque. I live in Brooklyn not Florida and I can tell you the Mosques are everywhere. So lets not take this out of context, and I don't mean that for you Bill. We just do not approve of the location. I had a relative that was murdered in he attack on ground zero. Why does anyone think this location was picked well I'll tell you why. It's like saying two words to America and I don't mean Happy Birthday.

I think everyone has an opinon on this subject.
|
MaryAnn 8-18-2010 05:40 PM
Hi Bill. How are you? I certainly do have an opinion about the Mosque. But first let me say that having lost relatives that day, I am somewhat biased. That said, I cannot understand why anyone would think this is a good idea. I do not blame all Muslims for what happened on 9/11 and I do not wish to take away their freedom to practice their faith. If these people were truly looking for healing, they would build this Mosque on Muslim land... especially in places where they breed these terrorists like those who committed the 9/11 atrocity. Stop the hate right at the source. That would be a wonderful way for them to show their disdain for these extremists and really honor our dead. I also believe that this group new the stir this would create and how people would be arguing the point... the old divide and conquer tactic. Again, the Constitution provides for freedom of religion, but I believe some sensitivity is required here. Glenn Beck said something funny but true, and I don't mean to minimize this is any way. He said, "Sure, a guy has a right to tell his wife that dress makes her look fat, but it would be a BAD IDEA for him to do it." I say NO MOSQUE AT GROUND ZERO!!
P.S. Sorry for showing my face her T.O.! Hope I didn't ruin your day.

Wow, my typing is pretty bad today. So I apologize ahead of time for all the typos.
|
Janet 8-18-2010 07:06 PM
Yes, I think it is a disgrace and and insult to all Americans. I think the President and the Mayor do not have any compassion for those who have died and their families. The United States was attacked by terrorist and three thousand people were murdered and now muslims want to build their Mosque two blocks away from ground zero. What the hell , yes we have freedom of religion in our country but this has nothing to do with it. No one is telling them they can't build their Mosque however we are asking that it not be built in that paticular location because it is too close to where three thousand people were murdered. What about the fact that many muslims knew about the attack before it happened. Remember the kids in the schools that told the teacher that they knew. So which muslims are we suppose to trust I don't know do you.
|
Bill 8-18-2010 08:41 PM
Hi Maryann, Janet,
We only have to look to Europe to see what will soon be happening here on our shores. If we look rearward to 1993 and the first attempt to blow up the world trade center, Muslims (the blind Sheik) have been the perpetrators in each instance. While there are moderate Muslims, we seldom if ever see or hear them speak out against such events, either here or abroad. When the terrorists attacked the World trade Center, Muslims in Dearborn, Michigan were dancing in the streets. We only need to look at the chaos in Europe to see the clash in cultures between Muslims and the West.
While the Constitution codifies freedom of religion, this matter began as a non constitutional issue, but rather a sensitivity and respect issue. American’s have always rendered respect to the fallen, such as the many battlefields across our nation and the globe, but we see the lack of compassion expressed by this IMAM and associates. As Americans, shouldn’t they also feel a sense of empathy and compassion for their fellow Americans and many non Americans who perished on 9/11?
America knows that we are at war with radical Islam, but we have no way of knowing which Muslims are radical and which are not. Therefore, we as Americans are entitled to know who is funding this $100 million dollar project as well as other similar projects. We should confirm that these facilities are not madrassas teaching radical ideology to their congregants.
Listening to self-serving commentary from an IMAM who has aligned himself with radical ideology who claimed that the United States was an accessory to September 11, 2001 and other radical comments is ridiculous. As a matter of national security, we need to exercise due diligence when mosques are being erected. No other religion commands its followers to commit Jihad against those who do not believe what they believe.
The recent rejection by the developer speaks volumes about his radical perspective and directly conflict with his assertion to be a bridge builder between faiths and communities. Whether you call it a mosque or an Islamic Community Center, it encroaches on the graves of those who perished during the 9/11 attacks. Furthermore, the site will prove to be a beacon for all of the radical Muslims round the world who see this building as a victory monument for radical Islam.
Preparedness should not be seen as paranoia. We have all seen the ever increasing violence from the radicals who want to destroy America. Again this is not a religious freedom issue, but a common sense issue. We should not erect such a controversial site on the graves of those killed by radical Muslims. Our government should investigate where the $ 100M dollar funding stream is coming from. After such radical comments have been expressed by this IMAM, like America becoming Sharia compliant, alarms bells should be sounding across the land.
|

Bill, this is why I love you. You always have so many facts and concepts to back up your opinion. I couldn't agree with you more and wish there was a way for you to publicize this piece of writing. Sadly, I am not sure there is going to be anything we can do about this, and this farce is going to be allowed to happen.
|
Bill 8-18-2010 09:43 PM
Maryann, I do share your concern and have listened to the local and federal politicians dress this issue up to advance their own careers.
But, I am hopeful that a ground swell of opposition will emerge to cause the power players to find a reason to deny building this mosque. For instance, today's news indicated that this IMAM has declined to discuss the matter with Governor Patterson and has also stated that he won't refuse money from Saudi Arabia and other anti-American Muslim nations to fund this project.
|
Janet 8-18-2010 10:09 PM

We Americans try so hard to be nice. The freedom that America and the constitution stand for has become lopsided. It seems whatever we do is a slight against someone. My suggestion is to build kind of a religios mall that houses any and all religions that want to represent themselves there. Make it a monument for all religions. I can't even imagine the pain some people are feeling that lost their kids or loved one on 911.

to Justsaying
I read your post about my response to Miss Nostalgia. I thought she, if she is a she when people don't use their names it is hard to tell, was being sarcastic. I am sorry for what I said because after reading your post I started thinking and mabe she was serious I should not make judgements about other poeple I will watch myself in the future. I hope Miss Nostalgia will be Happy with the person she is today. God Bless
Justsaying 8-12-2010 10:27 AM
No problem Harriet. A big person can admit to their mistake, so that makes you a big person. I don't know, that person's post seemed pretty sincere to me. I think she OR he was looking for some comfort. I hope they came back to see the nice responses and that it might make them feel better. Except from the one form T.O. who seems to be picking on everyone these days. Where do these jerks come from?

How come all the girls in Red Hook Pool had bobby pins on their noses? There were thousands of bobby pins on the floor of the pool. I never saw this phenomenon anywhere else.

To Ken Brown, Oscar Reed was a nick name. Your thinking of Walter Reid the younger brother of Johnny Reid who was a long time life guard at the Red Hook Pool. And was my husband's best friend Walter Reid Johnny's Brother. He was also Godfather to my oldest son John Jr. He died in 1992 by an accidental drowning. Oscar was a nickname. I know that there was a set of twin boys. One of them died from drowning when he fell from the Staten Island Ferry. Then there was one of the Jensen boys who also drown down by the piers at Coffey Street.
|
Richard Kocielo 8-16-2010 08:21 AM
Was that the same walter reed that worked at white rock.
|
Kathy Murray 8-16-2010 04:41 PM
I remember one of the Marano twins, maybe Walter, drowned back in 1963 or 64. Sammy and Walter were twins and I think a bunch of guys were on the Staten Island Ferry and Walter jumped in the water to get something and drowned. Lucy Fraser would know the story better because she was friends with them. Maybe this is a different story, but Lucy would know. The Marano twins had younger sisters who were also twins, Marie and Peggy Marano. I think Marie lives in Staten Island.

Hi, Joe - if they're waiting now, they'll wait a long time - the B77 (Lorraine St) bus route has been combined with the B75 (Smith St) and the B61 (Crosstown).
I know this sounds like a nasty joke, but it's true. No B77 anymore.
|
Louise**Red Hook** 8-14-2010 07:19 AM
The 61 that you catch on Fulton St now goes down VanBrunt St and goes straight to 5th Ave. It seems strange seeing the 61 on 5th Ave. You are so right no more 77...

Hi Everyone, I really enjoy this site. It brings back a lot of memories.
Some sad news to announce for anyone who may have known my cousins who were born on the 400 block of Van Brunt Street. My cousin Dennis Reisert died on June 16, 2010 from cancer. He still lived in Brooklyn on Senator Street. In the 50's he used to fly pigeons on his roof, with his friend Billy who lived over Laub's eyeclass store.
Now if that isn't bad enough on July 31, his sister Barbara Reisert passed away due to COPD. She has had that quite awhile. Barbara lived in Red Hook for years until she married Billy Barker who died awhile back.
Thanks again for sharing all these wonderful memories.
Bill 8-4-2010 04:59 PM
Nice contribution!

Please do T.O. Then immediately after you do it and just before you shuffle off this mortal coil, post the good news on this board.
Then there will finally be something of interest to all of us. At least as far as you're oncerned.

Geri, Francis Campagna sent me an email about Barbara. She was in our class at PS 30. Also, your husband John. I got to see you and John a while ago at the VFW Post. Sorry about your cousins and of course your husband John. I think Billy Barker was in my class too.
|
Geri A. Nunziato-Rath 8-6-2010 07:27 AM
Hi Shirley, thank you for your response, yes I met you at several of the reunions at the VFW Post. I had a very nice time listening to all of you remembering those days and met some very nice people. Yes both Barbara and Bill were in your class. Barbara had come with her son Joey back in 2006 at one of the reunions but I don't remember if you came to that one. Thank God she got to see some of her class mates.
Keep in touch.

I lived at 305 Van Brunt st. but before that I lived at 144 Wolcott which was one of the houses my grandfather owned. That house was sold to acon they wanted the property.

Lucy Gypsy Paint was on Van Brunt St? George worked for Monte Marines in the late 50s and made good money back then..Wow..he must have been paid something like 200.00 a week..I have to ask him..I remember going to the Clinton and I think I paid 26 cents durning the week..Now? Forget it, I hate going to the movie, it costs an arm and a leg..lol

Ken Brown 8-4-2010 07:33 PM
Hi Lucy,
I remember the metal E's. Boy I haven't remembered them in many yearsa. I wonder what they were used for? Anyone know? We used to hang on the stoop at Gypsy back in the day.
|
Lucy Fraser Suarez 8-5-2010 07:36 AM
Yes! Louise it was Gypsy Paints office originally, when I lived there! And to Ken I am 62 today so if you are in same age group you and I probley hung out with some of same people on that stoop! Good memories good people! Good community! To Ken I was known back then as Lucille Longo (step father)

Lucy, wasn't that house (Gypsy Paint) the 1st prize at Visitation's Carnival? Remember all the parishes had raffles like that.
|
Ken Brown 8-5-2010 04:34 PM
Hi Lucy,
I am sorry but, I am about 9 years older than you. It sure was a great stoop, especially at night when you could see the stars - you hardly see them anymore. At least we passed down the stoop in good condition.

|
Red Hooker 8-8-2010 03:12 PM
to wise to you T.O. did not write that himself I wrote it because we all have different senses of humor and some people just think who the hell they are like you I think you should just get over yourself.
|
Shirley 8-9-2010 05:47 AM
A different sense of humor when you mock someone's grief? I don't think that's a "different sense of humor" I think that is cruel.
|
Red Hooker 8-9-2010 08:44 AM
Shirley think your sliping a bit. Read the entrees again T.O. humor had nothing to do with someone's grief it was about the stoop the grocery store amendoias and the clinton. It was not about someone's grief at all. That is not what T.O. was responding to guess you misunderstood.
|
Shirley 8-9-2010 08:54 AM
You read it again, it was right under Geri Rath's entry about her cousins.
|
Red Hooker 8-9-2010 09:56 AM
Shirley I went back to the prior entry and yes your right about that one where T.O. said something about slashing his wrists. But you know not everybody gets on this website to read such sad news. This is not an obituary column. This may sound harsh to you however that is not what people want to read when they get on this site. They want to read about the memories and the jokes. If we want to be miserable we can read the newspaper.
|
Shirley 8-9-2010 10:13 AM
Red Hooker, I put this entry in the wrong place: a lot of us moved away and out of state and don't get much news. This website is one way to find out when our friends have passed away. Life is not all fun.
|
Ken Brown 8-9-2010 08:45 PM
Hi Shirley,
Of course you are correct. This web site can be many things but, it should not be used to say hurtful things to anyone - especially someone in grief. I think most people want to know when old friends pass away. I hope everyone can respect this.
|
Shirley 8-10-2010 04:42 AM
Ken, it is always good to hear from you, your remarks about sitting on Gypsy Paint bring back such nice memories. Hope all is well with you and your family.
